Selena Gomez ("Wizards of Waverly Place") has been cast in one of three lead roles in Tom Bezucha's comedy Monte Carlo, while a possible deal is in the works for "Gossip Girl's" Leighton Meester as well.

Nicole Kidman is producing the Fox 2000 project with Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan. Kidman may also play a supporting role. Bezucha (The Family Stone) is set to begin shooting this May in Monaco, Budapest and Paris.

Bezucha co-wrote the original script with Maria Maggenti, adapting Jules Bass' novel "Headhunters," about a group of American women who ditch a disappointing no-frills holiday in Paris and pose as wealthy women vacationing in Monaco. Bezucha and April Blair have done a rewrite which puts a younger spin on the story, with two of the characters in college and one just out of high school.

Hugh Laurie's inimitable role on House is doubtless a full-time job, and for the better part of the show's six-year run, it has kept him from doing anything major as far as the big screen is concerned.

But after doing voice work for Valiant, Stuart Little 3, and Monster and Aliens, Laurie may just make that precarious jump from small screen glory to headlining in a feature film, with a much buzzed-about May-December-themed dramatic comedy, reports the Los Angeles Times.

And not only that. Oranges - a dark, dramatic comedy about an older man who has an affair with the daughter of a family friend - may mark the reunion of Laurie, 50, reportedly in talks to play the lead role of the creepy older guy, with Gossip Girl villainess Leighton Meester, who is being considered to play either the female lead or some other role.

Meester has appeared on two episodes of House as Ali, an underage girl who had an obsessive crush on House, so it's not exactly unexplored territory for the two. She came to the clinic with her father who had a cold, and soon started calling the clinic obsessively to talk to him and show up in random places. She also sent him a Fresno calendar so he could count down the six months until she turns 18. It was revealed later, however, that Ali had a spore in her brain from an earthquake while she was in California.

Mila Kunis, from That 70s Show and now doing voice for Family Guy, is also a top candidate for the other half of the May-December affair. The project, penned by Jay Reiss and Ian Helfer, is still in the works. It has, to its credit, bagged a spot on 2008's Black List of best unproduced works, a list that includes, among others, Inglorious Basterds and the upcoming comedy The Beaver.

Georgina Sparks is making her way back to the Upper East Side for the very last episode of season 3, and the actress who plays her, Mercy cutie Michelle Trachtenberg, has some predictions about (pardon the pun) what sparks will fly upon her Gossip Girl return. "I'm sure there'll be a big scandal," Michelle tells E! Online. "She's back for vengeance."

Trachtenberg will share the screen twice this spring with one of her Gossip Girl buddies: Connor Paolo (Eric van der Woodsen) will guest on her hospital drama Mercy on March 3.

According to E! Online, on Mercy Paolo will play "a kid who sets off a pipe bomb on a commuter bus. He's brought in as a patient, and the father of another boy on the bus goes after him with a gun." As far as Gossip Girl, Trachtenberg foresees a showdown between her character and Blair Waldorf, played by her real-life buddy Leighton Meester.

"I'm sure Georgina will be seeking vengeance They haven't written it yet, but she was tricked and sent away, after all. And that li'l lady certainly doesn't like to be tricked." And remember who tricked Georgina into flying abroad with a so-called "prince" (played by doorman Vanya)? Yes, it was Blair, with the help of Dorota, of course!

"It's so funny because Leighton [Meester] and I are so close," said Trachtenberg last month. "And we always have to say, 'I hate you!' but it's like, 'I don't really hate you, I love you!' At her performances, [Leighton] has me at the front row and, like, we sing to each other while she's singing up there. So, we're the cheeseball friends."

'Gossip Girl' Casting News: Serena's Long-Lost Dad Has Been Found! / Posted by Paqui on 21 Jan 2010

Where in the world is William van der Woodsen? That’s the question that’s been on everyone’s mind — especially Serena’s (Blake Lively) — as the mid-season of "Gossip Girl" came to a close in December. The sexy socialite spent the end of season two in Europe hunting for her long-lost father and then a mysterious letter from him appeared in the wrong hands (cough... Rufus... cough cough). Now, EW now reporting that we may have a few clues as to who he is (at least in real life).

Sources confirm to EW that actor Billy Baldwin will play Serena’s estranged father in at least three episodes, which are slated to run in April. Last time we saw Billy (who is the second youngest of the four famous Baldwin brothers, including "30 Rock" star Alec and "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant Stephen), on TV, he was a New York City senator having an affair with a transsexual in ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money." At least he already knows a thing or two about the messy politics of Manhattan's elite crowd!

So, what can we expect of this deadbeat dad? Rumors are swirling that his past relationship with Serena's mommy, who now has the longest last name on the face of the Earth, Lily Rhodes van der Woodsen Bass Humphrey (Kelly Rutherford) is going to be a big part of the character's plot line, and E! is hearing that he'll be coming between Lily and Rufus (Matthew Settle).

It’s an interesting choice of casting, considering Billy has been married for over 15 years and is not exactly the home-wrecking character he’s scheduled to play on the show. Perhaps one of the other Baldwin brothers might have been a more fitting choice? Zing!

Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl actress and aspiring pop star, is taking some advice from a vetran of the music scene, her new gal pal Cyndi Lauper. Even though Cyndi seems to have moved on past her multi-colored hair and acid wash looks from the '80s, we're betting she still knows a thing or two about the biz.

"Recently I've spent a lot of time with Cyndi Lauper, and she's a legend," said Leighton (via People magazine). "She gave me the advice: Never sell your publishing, so I'll take that."

Leighton rocked out at TAO nightclub in Las Vegas Saturday in a 15-minute set, and before her big gig she said: "I get more excited than nervous, and I feel like that's the best kind of energy to have." She said her performance would be "cute, sexy ... I'm just having the time of my life, and I hope it continues."

Leighton recently released a single "Somebody to Love," and was featured on the Cobra Starship song "Good Girls Go Bad." She sang both during her weekend performance, along with a few others, then headed to a sky box table to enjoy the rest of her evening.

Yee-Haw! Coldplay devotee Gwyneth Paltrow and "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester are saddling up for a new country film entitled "Love Don’t Let Me Down," reports Variety.

They're set to costar with country music icon Tim McGraw and "Eragon" star Garrett Hedlund. Gwyneth takes the role of a falling supernova, a country star whose career was once admired, but is headed for a free fall. She soon gets wrapped up with a new country star (Garrett) whose popularity is fleeting. In somewhat of a resurrection tour for Gwyneth’s character, the two embark on a rollercoaster of a journey with her husband/manager (Tim) and a powerful beauty queen/budding singer (Leighton). They all — go figure! — get tangled up romantically, creating controversy.

"Brothers" star Tobey Maguire is going to take a crack at producing while Shana Feste ("The Greatest") is directing.

Next year is set to be pretty big for Leighton, as she is starring in "Date Night" with Steve Carell and "The Roommate" with Cam Gigandet. Other than "Iron Man," Gwyneth's career up until now has taken a backseat to her life (she has two children with Coldplay frontman and husband, Chris Martin). Tim currently has blockbuster hit out, "The Blind Side."

The "Gossip Girl" star revealed her latest collaboration to MTV News before performing at the new American Eagle store in Times Square on Tuesday night, where she sang a medley of cuts off her yet-untitled album, including a remix of the Cobra Starship track.

"I met [Wayne] a few months ago, and he's honestly — I don't even know if he'll want people to know that he's incredibly polite and respectful," she said about the hip-hop wunderkind, with whom she actually presented the award for Best Song From a Movie at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. "He's so talented and very funny. And really optimistic, and super supportive of me, which I've really, really appreciated so much."

It seems that since their meeting a few months back, Wayne's been a fan of Blair Waldorf's budding discography — and even picked which track he'd be featured on. "I sent him a couple of my songs," she said. "He's been diggin' on them for a while. Then he heard ['Make It Rain'], and he was like, 'All right, I'm gonna kill it!' "

While many musical partnerships can be conducted without both artists being in the studio together, Meester and Weezy got some face time during the song's recording — a feat for any artist, considering Wayne's notorious nocturnal office hours.

"It was like, literally, 4 o'clock in the morning," Meester said of the time she showed up at the studio to watch Wayne work himself into her song. "He was so sick — he didn't even write anything down. He just, like, vibed to the music and dances. I don't even know how he does it; he's amazing."

She's a big cheese in fashion ... and now Victoria Beckham has designs on the small screen. The former Spice Girl has landed a role in the hit US TV series Gossip Girl - which is famed as much for its fashion as its storylines.

Victoria, 35, was persuaded to appear by its star Blake Lively, who is a big fan of her outfits. Posh will fly to New York on Wednesday and hopes to film all the scenes for her cameo appearance in a day.

Our US mole says: "Blake and co-star Leighton Meester are fans of Victoria's designs, and have both worn her dresses. "Blake attended the unveiling of Victoria's new collection in New York last month, alongside the series' stylist Eric Damen.

"The trio started chatting and Victoria revealed she was a huge fan of the show. From here, Blake pleaded with her to guest star in an episode and ran the idea past producers."

Talks were then held - although the former Spice Girl had a few conditions. Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of privileged teens at an elite private school in Manhattan's Upper East Side and we're told: "She isn't an actress and wanted her role to be very tongue-in-cheek. And an idea for her to play Brit actor Ed Westwick's long-lost mother was quickly vetoed. Victoria joked that she'd rather play his ex-love interest!" Of course, VB is likely to wear one of her own designs during her cameo.

Leighton Meester just released her first single “Somebody To Love,” off her debut album. The song, which features R&B crooner Robin Thicke, was produced by Mike Caren (Flo Rida, T.I.).

The 23-year-old Gossip Girl actress told Ryan Seacrest the song is “definitely about what’s going on in my life and I think anybody can relate. You’re crazy, you’re busy, you’re young and you’re running around and it’s really hard to find somebody to love. People love you but you don’t really love them.”

Leighton Meester chooses her outfit depending on her mood. The Gossip Girl star, 23, says she isn’t afraid to take risks when it comes to fashion.

“When it comes to fashion I am edgy and a risk taker but I also wear what feels right for me,” Meester dished. “A little bit of both.

“It is just about what feels good in the moment and a lot of what feels good in the moment is just about going for it.” Leighton recently revealed that she feels super-confident when she’s wearing a pair of sexy stilettos.

“A great pair of heels is a winner every time. It really just gives you that extra oomph y’know? So you feel a little bit more sexy and your posture gets better and everything,” she said.

Leighton Meester is making a collaboration with Robin Thicke for her upcoming debut album. It is the small screen actress herself who makes the confirmation, sharing the news with Just Jared during HBO's post Emmy Awards reception held at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood on Sunday, September 20.

Other than confirming that the collaborative song will serve as the first single off her upcoming record, Leighton didn't spill further detail about the project. Possible title and release date for her studio album also were not disclosed.

Leighton Meester earned her fame in Hollywood as an actress. Her most known role is that as Blair Waldorf in CW's series "Gossip Girl". In late April this year, it was confirmed that she signed a recoding deal with Universal Republic Records.

From that point on talks have been brewing that she is hard at work on releasing an album. She, moreover, has also been featured in Cobra Starship's song, "Good Girls Go Bad", which comes from the band's third studio album "Hot Mess".

Loved 1992’s Single White Female? Then you’ll love 2010’s Leighton Meester-Minka Kelly thriller, The Roommate. Like Female, Roommate focuses on obsession: The film follows a college freshman (Meester) who develops an unhealthy fascination with her roommate (Kelly). For her role, Meester says she went method, researching mental illness with the help of psychologists and films like 1974’s A Woman Under the Influence. The actress tried to keep her distance from cast members — and a litter of kittens being used for the film — in order to retain her character’s level of emotional aloofness. “You would think that that idea of playing somebody who’s out of control or lost touch with reality is somehow fun, but it was to a point of discomfort,” the actress says. “[My character] is completely delusional and it’s definitely a cause of a chemical imbalance, so that wasn’t the easiest and most enjoyable thing. Even in her most normal moments, she’s genuinely a disturbed person. She had very abnormal wheels turning at all times.”

But will friends let Meester play psychiatrist, now that she’s garnered knowledge about mental health? Not quite, says Meester. “I don’t think they’ll want my advice after they see this movie.”

Emmy pundits are predicting a lot of repeat winners at this Sunday's awards. "Mad Men" and "30 Rock" are heavy favorites to repeat in the prestigious series categories. You'll get to see Tina Fey of "30 Rock" and Jon Hamm of "Mad Men" present. Other nominees who will hand out awards include Simon Baker of "The Mentalist," Kiefer Sutherland of "24" and Chandra Wilson of "Grey's Anatomy."

After giving Cobra Starship, Leighton Meester, Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo and Russell Brand an individual screen appearance, MTV finally gathers them all in one star-packed commercial ad for this year's MTV Video Music Awards, which is inspired by West Side Story's musical number "Tonight". The network also adds Katy Perry's part.

Scenes where Cobra Starship and Leighton hit a vintage subway car, Taylor sings inside a cab as well as Ne-Yo and Russell Brand boogie down New York streets are mashed up in one clip. As for Katy's footage, it shows the "I Kiss a Girl" hitmaker gardening on top of skyscraper.

The 26th Annual MTV Video Music Awards will be held on September 13 and hosted by Russell Brand. Taylor Swift, Muse, Green Day, Pink, Jay-Z and Lady GaGa are tapped to sing at the event. Meanwhile, Nelly Furtado, Leighton Meester, Miranda Cosgrove, Katy Perry, Ne-Yo and Chace Crawford will present awards at the ceremony.

As for its nominations, Beyonce Knowles leads the pack with nine nods alongside Lady GaGa. Following their domination with seven gongs is Britney Spears. Fans can vote for the awards' winners by logging on to VMA.MTV.com. Those who are Verizon subscribers can determine the winners by texting VMA to 97979.

Leighton Meester and her boyfriend Sebastian Stan may not be friendly on Gossip Girl, but in real life he feels fortunate to be in a relationship with the star.

“I’m a really lucky guy,” Stan, 25, told reporters at the premiere of Taking Woodstock in New York City on Wednesday. “She’s the most interesting, sophisticated, talented and an extremely funny person that I know. She’s really hilarious.”

Though Stan gives his costar Ed Westwick the evil eye when his character Chuck Bass gets to make out with Meester’s Blair Waldorf, it’s all in jest — and he says everyone on set is professional when it comes to romantic scenes.

“It’s work and everyone shares the same mentality when it comes to that. But we all laugh about it,” he says. “The good part is I get to go home with her.”

Not only are we super excited to see all the new characters on the show, we can't wait to see where the storylines go, especially when it comes to love and sex. The girls and boys of Gossip Girl are currently filming the new season in NYC and some of them are headed off to college where they're going to be doing a whole lot more than sitting in a classroom.

Thank goodness Blair (Leighton Meester), Vanessa (Jessica Szohr), and Dan (Penn Badgley) are all headed to college at NYU. That keeps them nice and close and still a big part of the show. Of course, Serena (Blake Lively) will be at Brown in Rhode Island, but we're thinking she'll still play an integral part of the racey plot. While filming the new season, the girls were all dressed to the nines as usual. But we hear there's going to be a lot of undressing in the new season as well.

We don't know a whole lot about the plot besides the fact that there's going to be a whole lot of loving going on. We've been hearing rumors about a threesome between Blair, Chuck, and... someone else; and we just can't wait to see what that's all about. It's also reported that there will be a lot of sexy scenes between Serena and Carter (Sebastian Stan) and maybe even some love between Olivia (Hilary Duff) and Dan.

Phew, we have a feeling there are going to be quite a few steamy scenes in the new season of Gossip Girl and that, without a doubt, will get people tuning in. Not that we wouldn't tune in anyway to see what everyone is wearing.

Now, the cast of the red-hot TV show "Gossip Girl" are wondering whether they could be the next hit series to graduate to the silver screen.

"We've been asked that a lot," Jessica Szohr grinned. "I'm in."

"A 'Gossip Girl' movie could be compared to a 'Sex and the City'-type of movie," agreed Leighton Meester, giving a pitch and seeing similarities in the confessional, sexy, martini-drinking worlds. "I think that would be kind of hot."

These days, Szohr is hard at work in Lake Havasu on the set of the horror film "Piranha 3-D," while Meester is playing psycho on the Culver City set of the thriller "The Roommate." Other stars, like Blake Lively and Chace Crawford, are similarly establishing their own film careers or focusing on the third season of the show that premieres in September. But if the show's fanbase continues to build, "Gossip Girl" could someday be bringing her omniscient observations to a movie theater near you.

"If they do that, I don't think it'll be for a couple more years," reasoned Szohr, who plays down-to-earth Vanessa Abrams on the show. "We're just going into the third season. But I think it'd be fun; we'd all be excited to do it."

"We'll see what happens," agreed Meester, a breakout star as the bratty, bitchy Blair Waldorf. "There's no resolution in each episode — it's always a cliffhanger. So it would be pretty juicy as a movie."

Asked if she's been privy to any behind-the-scenes rumblings about a possible movie someday, Meester said, "I have," adding, "I think we are just [concentrating] on the show right now — so maybe when it goes away for a while we can come back [as a movie]."

"You never know," Szohr added. "It went from books to a TV show — so they might as well just check off the list and make it a film too."
